UDST Announces AI-Powered Digital Transformation Initiative at Mobile World Congress

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) announced a digital transformation initiative at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, implementing Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure AI Foundry’s agentic application capabilities across university operations.
The initiative establishes an AI-enabled operational framework leveraging Microsoft 365 Copilot as a natural language interface for faculty and staff, while Azure’s agentic AI framework automates and orchestrates workflows across departments. The implementation is designed to streamline administrative processes and enhance productivity within the university’s operational infrastructure.
National Digital Transformation Framework
The announcement at MWC 2025 represents the outcome of a collaboration with Microsoft, delivered under sponsorship of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) as part of the national framework agreement to accelerate digital transformation across Qatar. This strategic agreement enables government and semi-government entities to access cloud technologies for operational modernization.
“As an applied university rooted in science and technology, we strive to adopt the latest innovations and remain at the forefront of technological advancement,” said Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST. “As a Great Place to Workβ’ entity, we are committed to facilitating the lives of our employees by creating faster, more streamlined processes that connect everyone seamlessly. This adoption also aligns with Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030, which guides our efforts toward building a thriving, future-ready digital economy.”
Dr. Al-Naemi noted that the partnership with Microsoft extends over several years, with the unified AI-enabled operational framework designed to enable faculty and employees to work more efficiently while supporting institutional outcomes.
Agentic AI Implementation in Higher Education
Ahmed El Dandachi, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, commented on the institutional application of the technology:
“Agentic AI has the transformative power to enable institutions like UDST to achieve new heights of efficiency and innovation. By orchestrating multiple intelligent agents, Microsoft M365 Copilot empowers universities to streamline operations, solve complex challenges, and foster a more collaborative environment. We are excited to support UDST as they harness the full potential of agentic AI to shape the future of higher education with secure, responsible, and impactful solutions.”
The implementation reflects UDST’s positioning as an applied science and technology institution integrating operational technology systems with academic mission objectives. The framework aligns with Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030, supporting national objectives for digital economy development.
